Sturdy, alert and watchful the Australian Cattle Dog is a compact dog with a dense thick coat, muscular neck and short straight legs with a square appearance.

Blue or Red with possible dark or tan markings.


Grooming: 
Very little grooming required.

Temperament: 

High energy, intelligent, active and fiercely loyal. Needs regular exercise and stimulation or the ACD may get into trouble. Has an intense desire to work no matter how difficult the task and has great agility and endurance. They make excellent family pets and guard dogs.


Lifespan: 
15 years

History: 

Originated in Australia in 1840 by crossing the native Dingo's with Collie's and other herding dogs to develop a tough herding dog with an incredible work ethic.


Health Concerns: 

Generally free of genetic disorders. Can develop deafness or blindness.
