Appearance: 

Medium-sized frame dog that is slightly longer than high. Has dense, long shaggy double coats with hair that hangs straight down. Medium-sized ears, set with the eyes, covered in long hair.


Color: 

Black, blue, brown or fawn with or without white markings.


Grooming: 
High level of grooming required. Daily brushing and frequent bathing are necessary to keep the coat smooth and unmated.

Temperament: 

Very active, intelligent, loving and easygoing. The Bearded Collie needs regular exercise in a large area.


Lifespan: 
15 years

History: 

Originated in Central Europe and used in Scotland as a faithful herding dog. Originally used to herd sheep or cattle.


Health Concerns: 

Prone to hip dysplasia, eye problems and fleas and ticks due to their thick coats.
