Appearance: 

A square framed medium to large size dog covered in a long straight double coat. They are lean, elegant and athletic. They are characterized by their black mask (black muzzle, cheeks, eyes and ears). They have diamond shaped ears that stand straight up and a low hanging tail.


Color: 

Fawn to mahogany with black tips (muzzle, cheeks, ears) and black overlay.


Grooming: 
High level of grooming required. Dense coat needs brushed daily.

Temperament: 

Very intelligent and protective. Loving and playful with family members and leery of strangers. They are hard working dogs and need to be exercised daily and provided with mental stimulation.


Lifespan: 
14 years

History: 

Originated in Belgium and named after the city of Tervuren. Bred for their ability to herd, protect and serve. One of Belgium's four sheepdog varieties.


Health Concerns: 

Skin disorders, seizures, allergies and hip dysplasia.
