Appearance: 

Small compact little dogs with a distinct puffy double coat of hair. They have rounded heads, small hanging ears and dark eyes and nose. The tail is plumed and falls gracefully over their back. The are a low shedding breed.


Color: 

White. Shadings of buff, cream or apricot are accepted.


Grooming: 
High level of grooming required to maintain appearance.

Temperament: 

Friendly, very sociable dogs that do well with other pets and family members. Easy to train and eager to please the Bichon makes a nice family pet and they do well in small settings. However, may be difficult to house train. Crating is recommended.


Lifespan: 
15 years

History: 

Originated in the Mediterranean from crossing the Poodle with the Water Spaniel. Sailors took the Bichon's on their travels because of their friendly, spirited disposition and used them to barter.


Health Concerns: 

Eye problems, allergies and cataracts.
