Medium-frame dogs with long legs. Their coats are "feathered" and medium in length. The head is rounded with a tapered muzzle and triangular ears that fold and hang against the head. The tail is usually docked. Eyes are amber and always look alert.
Orange and white or liver and white, all with ticking.
Active, easy to train, mild and sweet-natured. They have strong hunting instincts and must be kept in fenced in areas or on lead. They make great family companions and are usually very patient with children. Intelligent, loyal and sensitive.
Originated in France almost 1,800 years ago as the gentleman's bird dog. They were bred to hunt and retrieve and are still used for these skills today.
Generally free of genetic disorders, may develop hip dysplasia and/or epilepsy.
