Small, sturdy dogs with shaggy double coats, bushy hair on the top of their broad heads and eyebrows. They have small, pointed ears, small backs and short tails.

Hard-working, feisty, loving, high energy dogs. Because of their strong hunting instincts they love to chase and dig, especially in the yard. Easy to train and eager to please. They form strong bonds with family members and are naturally protective.
Originated in the Scottish Highlands as a hunter of rodents and small game. They were originally grouped with the Skye Terrier and then became an independent recognized breed.
