Appearance: 

Small, sturdy dogs covered in silky, wavy coats. The head is rounded and in proportion to their body. The feathered hanging ears are set high and fall against the cheek. The eyes are large, round and dark giving the dog a friendly look. The tail is carried at back level and always in motion while moving.


Color: 

Blenheim, tri-color, ruby or black and tan.


Grooming: 
Minimal grooming required. Regular bathing and brushing required.

Temperament: 

Affectionate, playful and eager to please. They are mild mannered and usually get along well with children and other pets. They are athletic and have a natural instinct to chase and dig. They are best suited to a fenced in area. They do well in smaller dwellings. One of the largest of the Toy Breeds. They make great family companions.


Lifespan: 
14 years

History: 

Originated in England in the 17th Century. Used by the wealthy as pets and portrayed in early art sitting on the laps of princes and princesses.


Health Concerns: 

Heart problems, hip dysplasia and ear infections.
