Appearance: 

Medium-sized strong, muscular and symmetrical in outline. They are slightly longer than tall and have clearly defined lines. They are covered in distinctive spots. The head is rounded and balanced with a short tapered muzzle. The ears are flat, set high and carried close to the head. The expression is always alert and curious. The tail is strong and held level.


Color: 

White with black or liver spots.


Grooming: 
Minimal grooming required, but they are very heavy shedders.

Temperament: 

Athletic, active, intelligent and naturally protective. They have a great deal of stamina and are perfect for the very athletic. They form strong bonds with family members and enjoy playing and cuddling. They are very heavy shedders.


Lifespan: 
12 years

History: 

Although the exact date of origin is unknown the Dalmatian was used in the 19th Century as coach dogs. They would follow, protect and run with the coach and guard the coach and horses when the owners were not around.


Health Concerns: 

Deafness, skin allergies and bladder problems.
