Appearance: 

Medium-sized, elegant, athletic, squarely-built dogs covered in a short, tight coat. The head is narrow and flat and the muzzle is long and tapered. The ears are V shaped, set high and carried erect. The tail is usually docked.


Color: 

Fawn, red, black, blue, all with tan markings.


Grooming: 
Minimal grooming required.

Temperament: 

Alert, intelligent and athletic. They are naturally watchful and protective and require a great deal of mental and physical stimulation daily. They are even-tempered and good with children and other pets. They form strong bonds with family members and make great family companions.


Lifespan: 
14 years

History: 

Originated in Germany hundreds of years ago to guard, herd livestock, and keep the home and farm free from rats and vermin.
