Appearance: 

Has a large, square frame with a thick, wiry coat. They have bushy mustaches, beards and eyebrows. The eyes are set deep and the ears are V-shaped, pointed and erect. The tails are sometimes docked.


Color: 

Solid black or salt and pepper.


Grooming: 
High level of grooming required.

Temperament: 

Active, alert and reliable. They are loyal and playful. They can sense a threat to the household. Will not make excessive noise. They become very close to the owner and will most likely follow them around. They require daily physical and mental stimulation.


Lifespan: 
15 years

History: 

Were bred to perform larger tasks such as hauling, herding and cattle driving. Breed not established until 1923. Were severely decreased after WWI and were reestablished by C.Clalaminus.


Health Concerns: 

Hip Dysplasia, Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), Gastric torsion and hypothyroidism
