Appearance: 

Recognized by their outgoing smile. Have a dense flat, wavy or feathered coat. Their muzzles are wide and tapered. They have deep-set gentle eyes that are usually brown. Their ears are Medium-sized and hang. They have long uncurled tails.


Color: 

Various shades of a golden color.


Grooming: 
High level of grooming required. Heavy shedders especially in the spring and summer.

Temperament: 

Very friendly, loyal, gentle and eager to please. They are active and love to work. They are not timid around anyone and is not a one man animal. They are intense as puppies but will grow out of it. They like to chew on things, carry things and play fetch. Great with children. Require daily physical stimulation.


Lifespan: 
10 to 12 years

History: 

Originated in 19th century Scotland. One of the most popular breeds in America. They were called Flat Coats-Golden in 1903 until 1920 when it was officially changed to Golden Retriever.

Hip dysplasia, skin problems, elbow dysplasia, Progressive retinal atrophy, lymphoma mast cell tumors and Hemangiosarcoma
