Appearance: 

Light, slender, large and muscular dogs covered in a short, tight coat. The head is long and narrow and the muzzle is long and thin. The eyes are dark and the ears are small and folded. Their tail is long and curved upward.

Minimal grooming.

Temperament: 

They are calm and easy to get along with. They crave attention and are not good watchdogs. Require enough exercise to stay healthy. They are sight hounds and should be fenced in or on lead.


Lifespan: 
12 years

History: 

Originated in Egypt and were brought to America in the 16th century. The greyhound is the only dog mentioned in the Bible.


Health Concerns: 

Esophageal achalasia, gastric torsion and osteosarcoma. They are prone to bloating.
