Appearance: 

Small-framed dog that is longer than it is tall. Has a long silky coat. They have a rounded head and a short, rectangular muzzle. They have dark, almond-shaped eyes. The ears are high set and are of medium size.

Regular brushing and inspections of the eyes and ears.

Temperament: 

Sweet and clever. Great family companions and watchdogs. They are very possessive of their owners. Alert and protective. Playful and good with kids and other pets. Not shy around strangers. They do not need a lot of exercise.


Lifespan: 
15 years

History: 

Originated in Cuba. Only 11 in the states in the 70s before the breed was reestablished.


Health Concerns: 

Generally healthy. Can develop eye problems and dry skin.
