Appearance: 

Medium-sized dogs covered in long silky coats that are mostly white. The coat grows longer on the belly, chest, legs and tail giving them a feathered appearance. The ears are long and low-hanging, covered in feathered hair. The head is oval shaped with almond-shaped eyes and shorter, square muzzles. The tail is covered in long feathered hair and carried as a continuation of the back.


Color: 

Base color is white with solid red patches. Can have flecking.


Grooming: 
Minimal grooming required.

Temperament: 

Athletic, intelligent and loving. They are point bird dogs and require fenced in areas or a lead. They are gentle and even-tempered and are great with children and other pets. They form strong bonds with family members and make great family companions.


Lifespan: 
12-15 years

History: 

Originated in Ireland in the 19th century and became popular and almost extinct. Imported to Great Britain in the 1980's and became mainly a show dog.


Health Concerns: 

Generally free of genetic disorders. May develop hip dysplasia and eye problems.
