Small and thin with muscular frames covered in short tight coats. They have long narrow heads with thin muzzles. The ears are small and folded and become erect when alert. Their tails are slim and curved and carried low.
Colors vary.
They are affectionate and form strong bonds with their owners. Nervous around new people and feisty children, but they are friendly. Should be handled gently and need a lot of love. Also neat and quiet and adapt easily. They are easily distracted and are sensitive to cold weather.
They were brought to Europe by the Phoenicians. They are smaller breeds of the Greyhound and were used for hunting rats and mice.
