Small with a lot of long, silky hair. They have a short muzzle and symmetrical face patterns. The eyes are dark, round and set far apart. The ears are small, v-shaped, wide apart and hang and are well-feathered. They have plumed tails that carry over the back.
Black and white, red (includes all shades of red orange, lemon and sable) and white, black and white with tan.
The Japanese Chins are pleasant and lovable. They form strong bonds with their owners and are friendly. They are obedient, sensitive and like to be the center of attention. They get along well with children. They don’t require much exercise but will benefit from daily stimulation.
Originated in China and only owned by the royals. Made their way to Japan and were given as gifts to Queen Victoria. The breed then caught on in England and America in the 19th century.
