Appearance: 

Small with athletic frames. Their coats are short, smooth and glossy. Their heads are long, narrow and wedge-shaped. The eyes are almond-shaped and small and dark. The ears on the standard terrier are naturally erect, cropped or button ears. The ears on the toy terrier are naturally erect. Theirs tails are tapered and hang low or curl into a hook shape.


Color: 

Jet black with rich mahogany tan .


Grooming: 
Minimal grooming required.

Temperament: 

Energetic, loyal and independent. They are protective and they become friends for life. They are great with children and friendly with other dogs. They hunt rats and small vermin and will need a fenced in area. They need daily exercise.

Originated in 19th century Manchester, England. Were used to keep away rats and other small vermin.
