Small and sturdy frames. Their coats are hard, wiry and straight. They have small oval-shaped eyes that are dark. The ears are set well apart, erect and have pointed tips. The muzzle is wedge-shaped or fox-like. The tail is of medium length and is carried high.
All shades of red, wheaten, black and tan or grizzle.
Courageous, affectionate and adaptable. They get along with just about everyone especially children. They crave attention and like to play. They need daily exercise.
Originated in England in the 1800's. They were bred to be ratters and to help scare away foxes. They used to have two types of ears but one style was made another breed in the 60's.
Have few genetic health problems, but may develop eye problems.
