Appearance: 

Large and strong frame. The outer coat is rough and dense and looks broken while the under coat is wooly. The coat is waterproof. The head is long with a square muzzle and is covered in hair. The eyes are deep-set and dark. The ears are long, pendulous, folded, set low and are covered in hair. The tail is carried high and they have webbed feet.

Regular grooming required to maintain appearance.

Temperament: 

Low-key, friendly and independent. They love the outdoors and love to follow scents. They get along well with strangers, children (can be too much for small children) and other pets. They need daily exercise and a secure yard because they can jump rather high.


Lifespan: 
13 to 16 years

History: 

In England and France in the 13th century, but the modern version took form in the 18th century. Were used to hunt otters.


Health Concerns: 

Hip and elbow dysplasia, epilepsy, bleeding disorders and are prone to bloating.
