Appearance: 

Small and fluffy. The have a double coat which consists of a long, straight and harsh outer coat and a soft and dense under coat. The head is wedge-shaped with dark and deep-set eyes. They have a short muzzle and small, erect ears. The tail is feathered and curls over the back.

All colors, patterns and variations of these.


Grooming: 
Daily brushing and regular eye and ear inspections. Heavy shedders.

Temperament: 

Stubborn, willful and curious. They have big dog attitudes and get along well with everyone as well as other pets. They love to bark and they make good watchdogs. They need to be on a leash because they are unaware of their size and will take on any dog. They need attention and regular exercise.


Lifespan: 
12 to 16 years

History: 

Were originally large in size, but were bred to be small. Were companions to royals and Mozart. They were brought to the U.S. in the 19th century.


Health Concerns: 

Eye problems, dislocated kneecaps, tooth loss and molting.
