Appearance: 

Medium-sized and square frames. The outer coat is wavy or curly and weather-resistant while the under coat is soft, wooly and dense. The coat hangs in chords. The eyes are almond-shaped and deep-set. The ears are v-shaped and they hang.


Color: 

Solid rusty black, black and all shades of grey. There can be a white mark on the chest.


Grooming: 
Separate chords to prevent matting. Drying can take a long time.

Temperament: 

Obedient, smart and helpful. They are very easy to train, but can be stubborn. They are family-oriented and get along well with everyone. They are friendly and playful and have a puppy-like attitude. They need daily exercise.


Lifespan: 
14 or more years

History: 

The breed was brought to Hungary over 1000 years ago. They were used for herding and guarding.


Health Concerns: 

Eye problems, hearing problems and hip dysplasia.
