Appearance: 

Medium-sized and powerful frames. Their coat is a double coat with the outer coat being straight, coarse and it lies flat. The under coat is present on the neck and thighs. Their eyes are almond-shaped and of medium-sized. The ears are pendant, triangular, medium-sized and they hang close to the head. The tails are usually docked.


Color: 

Black with rust to mahogany markings.


Grooming: 
Minimal grooming.

Temperament: 

Strong, tough, confident and devoted. They are very athletic and need daily exercise. They love attention and make great companions. They are good with children and make good watchdogs. They have a challenging temperament and need effective training.


Lifespan: 
12 years

History: 

Were bred by the Germans. Were used as guard dogs and police dogs. The German Rottweiler Club was formed in 1924.


Health Concerns: 

Hip dysplasia and eye problems.
