Appearance: 

Small, compact dogs that are longer than they are tall. They are covered in long, silky hair. The head is rounded with a short muzzle and long beard and mustache. The eyes are large, dark and set close together. The tail is plumed and carried over the back.

High level of grooming required to maintain appearance.

Temperament: 

Friendly, loyal lap dog that is playful and loving. Can be difficult to train and not very obedient. They make great family companions for those that are not very active.


Lifespan: 
15 years

History: 

One of the worlds oldest breeds. Originated in China where they were kept by royalty as loyal companions.


Health Concerns: 

Ear infections, kidney infections and eye problems.
