Sammy was a Senior Deaf Chow. He was at the Stark pound in which I once volunteered there. I tried so hard to find him a home. I finally found someone in PA that wanted him, but when Sammy got there she changed her mind. I could not take him back to the pound. I decided to keep him, get him vetted (neutered & shots, etc), and try to find a home for him. WELL, after 3 days, I fell in love with him and WOULD NOT part with him. Because of Sammy's deafness, he was so special and so sweet. Sammy was always smiling. Even when he was sleeping, he still smiled. He loved to run in the back yard behind the shed. If we chased him, he had these funny "linebacker" moves to get away from us....SO FUNNY! When we would go for a walk, he would just walk so gracefully as to say, HEY, LOOK AT ME! Sammy had bad teeth, his previous family did not take care of him, so he couldn't chew hard things, BUT, he LOVED to steal the other dogs bones and just carry them around in his mouth, he never chewed them, just carried them. He always woke us up in the middle of the night pacing the floor, he just couldn't stay sleeping all night long like the rest of us. Poor boy, I know he was tired.
I have never and will never meet another Sammy! Sammy was with us for only 2 years. He left us so unexpectedly on January 26th , 2010 at 6am. I still cry every day for him. It seems so different with out him here. A very sad emptiness is here without him. I know he is waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge and I know he is waiting for us with his big Sammy smile.
Sammy, you brought more love into our lives and I am so glad we found you. Our hearts are broken because we miss you.
